Belly Dancing is Fun! Take a journey through time and culture with one of the oldest surviving dance forms originating from the ancient cultures of the orient to the mid-East. Belly dance began as a social dance enjoyed by both men and women at weddings, parties, and celebrations. From the social scene, it has evolved into the art form it is today, enjoyed throughout the world.
Belly Dancing is for Everyone! All ages, shapes and sizes have found a creative and expressive outlet through belly dance. It focuses on relaxed, natural isolation of different parts of the body with an emphasis on articulations of the torso and hips creating sensuous patterns with the entire body. Belly dance provides health and fitness benefits as well as a social outlet and is for everyone at every age. It is rooted in traditions which accept that a healthy body comes in a variety of types.
What to Wear: Comfy form fitting clothes that allow you to move and see movements. Yoga pants, leggings, form fitting tops. Showing your belly is optional. Theresa typically wears leggings and tank top. Dance shoes, socks, or bare feet is recommend. You are welcome to bring your belly dance hip scarves.
